Farmer's Wife "Progress" Or Lack Thereof

Well, I am still around but just having a hard time keeping up with everything.  I did get to go to International Quilt Market for the first time a couple of weeks ago which was amazing and overwhelming!  I am planning to post a bit about it and do a little giveaway, hopefully soon.  For now, I wanted to do an update of my Farmer's Wife blocks.  In the last month and a half I got pretty far behind with my progress.  I didn't do any blocks in April and didn't start making block this month until a couple of days ago.  While my goal was 12 blocks per month, I have six of the 12 for May finished (with a couple cut out and ready to be sewn) and I am hoping to be able to make up a few blocks this summer.  To see my last update in March go here.  Below is what I have so far this month.
The one in the middle took forever to piece, but I do sort of love it!  I feel like I was trying to do the easy ones first and was flying through it.  Now I have to start doing some of the more time consuming ones and I am not to get as many done as quickly.  So I believe I am currently at 42 of 144...interesting....mearly a dent!

Wish me luck in getting these finished and stay tuned for a Market report!

  1. I love the fabric you're using! In the end the blocks will be wonderful and you'll be happy with the quilt but in the meantime all the little pieces will be a lot of work.
I did 48 blocks 2 summers ago when it was all the craze then too. I ended up assembling them into a sampler style quilt and donated it last month to a women's shelter. The group I belong to holds a retreat in Indiana every year and entrance to retreat is 2 quilts and/or diapers.
Can't wait to see your finished blocks all set!

  3. Looking so lovely! Hometown is one of my all time favourite lines. Why are you making 144 blocks? Just curious, since there are only 111 in the book. Maybe you're further ahead than you thought! :)
